The mission of the two-year program is to train highly qualified individuals PhD, MD, PharmD for participation in a broad range of academic clinical pharmacology and pharmacogenomic activities.

The ACGME-accredited Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine fellowship offers a three- or four-year interdisciplinary program which satisfies all clinical training requirements for board eligibility in both disciplines. The curriculum in geriatric oncology integrates training in both disciplines. Throughout the fellowship years, all fellows participate in an extensive group of educational programs.

The three-year program admits one fellow per year and consists of one year of research and two clinical years, which are divided between the campuses of the University of Chicago Medicine in Chicago, Illinois and NorthShore University Health System in Evanston, Illinois.

The two-year program allows fellows to dedicate 20 months to clinical rotations and 4 months to research, and participants are strongly encouraged to take advantage of an additional 12 months of dedicated research time. The curriculum of the fellowship is independent and distinct from the General Surgery residency training program. This fellowship prepares surgeons to assume leadership in the multidisciplinary care of the cancer patient and to engage in high quality research.

We seek to train the highest caliber surgeons to become leaders in surgical oncology. The Department of Pathology hosts a wide range of fellowships in anatomic and clinical pathology. Researchers identified a gene signature in primary oral cavity malignancy that may accurately predict whether patients with early stage disease had cancer that had already spread to their lymph nodes.
