The surrounding area is nice and close to everything. There are more stores, gas stations etc close to this area than Trulia lists. Everything is convienent even a movie theatre about 1 10th of a mile away. Quiet and family friendly not to mention close to FT. Wonderful shopping and good food close by - Forest Acres is the best region of Columbia. The most noise pollution I encountered was in when birds were chirping alarm regarding a hawk with a squirrel in its talons.

Trails were well marked on the main illustrated loop but the additional Indian loop trail which continued all the way to the lake was more challenging with a slippery heavy leaf ground cover. The steep slope to the lake required caution and actually we slid down most of it on our butts.

The climb back up was easier. This is a beautiful area with lake views from the tallest ridge. I think the loop starts at the last split from the road. Was a great hiking trail! Loved the scenery, old cemetery and other sites along the trail. Three hours of hiking in fantastic weather. This area is lovely. I might be spoiled by the usual clear trails of the Smokies and was surprised that the Indian Loop was so unmaintained. We had a lovely day… shy of the overgrown battle with spiders but celebrated the time.

The next day… we were absolutely cursing! Body is covered in Chigger bites. They found their way inside my long pants, between my toes and on my head. I am two weeks into the itch using Caladryl, benedryl and cortisone cream to get through. She got chiggers bad there last year.

Did all the trails on the map and just ran the recorder. At the end of that is the Indian Rock trail, which is a pretty overgrown loop. Then running across the area is the dark hollow trail, which I though was nice because it was quiet and open. No people. All in all a nice park made better by perfect weather.

This trail was really challenging, fun, and scary AF. Dark Hallow - Spiders everywhere. Bring appropriate gear to clear large spider nests that you can't get around. My first time hiking in Tennessee! It was definitely a great hike and would try again.

Nice wooded trail, great sections along the lake , with a couple of steep inclines. A little overgrown. Pretty view of lake from dam but through trees otherwise. Needs a little trail maintenance I know I went off trail about. It was great! Lots of bees, hornets, snakes and other wildlife.
