Why cant it do the same for network printers. I came to the same conclusion where it shows me the print open failed message. I am not deploying these devices since the users would want to print and I wouldnt be able to provide them with the solution. I think Citrix should come up with "Citrix Print Server" that runs as a service just like License server and be able to communicate between the regular print server and the Xenapp environment.

I you want more info let me know. Jace, The idea was to avoid installing drivers on the server since citrix recommends not to do this and my years of experience suggest the same.

All my printers are on a Print Servers running Win2k8R2. All my Xenapp servers have the Print Role installed to them so I can manage drivers easy. Using the Print role on each Xenapp server I install only the driver. Finally I wrote a Vb app to help the user with their default printer selection that runs on login and logout.
This app saves the users preferred default printer to their environment. If they change their printer, my program will capture this when they logout and save the info for next time they login. Something i found out about PS4 is that it has a new feature called session printers and i started testing with it and it seems to work without me having to use a script to map the printers.
